Fresh success for Dorset independent store

DIKE & Son of Stalbridge has picked up its second national award in 2012, Best Fresh Food Retailer, from the independent retailers’ organisation Nisa.

The award, which was made in recognition of the store’s excellent fresh food offering, was presented by Roger Black MBE, Olympic 400 metre silver medallist, and Nisa’s chief executive officer Neil Turton, who said: “The awards are a way of recognising retailers that have created and developed successful and outstanding businesses and to reward them for their hard work.”

In February, the shop was named Convenience Store of the Year 2012 at The Drinks Retailing Awards.

Dike’s, which has been family-run for five generations in Stalbridge, north Dorset, is one of the country’s biggest independent supermarkets, stocking a huge range of chilled food, as well as fresh meat and fish counters, a delicatessen and an extensive fruit and vegetable section.

Director Andy Dike said: “This award is a credit to all of our hard-working team who work tirelessly to ensure that our customers are supplied with the very freshest, good quality food, much of it locally sourced.”
