Dike & Son Ltd Terms and Conditions of Sale and Use

Any use of this website is subject to the user agreeing to the following Terms and Conditions. These conditions shall apply to all online transactions between Dike & Son Ltd and any person, firm or company placing an order online with Dike & Son for the supply of any goods. 


We will not sell or deliver alcohol to anyone who is, or appears to be, under the age of 18. By placing an order you confirm that you are at least 18 years old and we reserve the right not to deliver if we are unsure of this. If you are buying a case of wine as a gift, or a hamper that includes alcohol, the recipient must also be over 18 years old.

Our website includes systems to check your order against our current range but we cannot guarantee the availability or otherwise of any product. In the event that a product is unavailable when you place your order, we shall contact you to arrange replacement, or another acceptable arrangement for the completion of your order. 

The placing of an order anywhere on our website does not constitute a contract, which is made only when we accept your order and process payment. 

We reserve the right not to accept any order. 

We have no minimum order.

All goods are offered subject to availability. For hampers, in the event of supply difficulties, we reserve the right to substitute goods or packaging of equal quality and value.

Normal Delivery

Mainland UK delivery is £7.99 for any order to one address. Deliveries to Northern Ireland, the Isles of Scilly, Isle of Man and Scottish Islands are charged at £15.99. We do not deliver to the Channel Islands or destinations outside the UK. 

Delivery is normally within 3-5 working days of your order and will need to be signed for by a person aged 18 years or over. If this is not possible, or if no one is in, your order will be sent to a local depot for collection/redelivery.

The courier will normally attempt to deliver twice. Your order will be returned to our warehouse if they have not been collected from the courier 3 days after the second delivery attempt, and we reserve the right to pass on the cost of redelivery in this event.

Express Delivery

Express delivery costs £9.99 for any size of order and guarantees next day delivery to one address in the mainland UK provided the order is placed before 11am. Note: this service does not guarantee delivery for Saturdays.

We shall not be liable for any delay in delivering your order if that delay or failure is caused by circumstances beyond our control such as, war, riot, civil commotion, malicious damage, compliance with any law or governmental order, rule, regulation or direction, fire, flood, storm or Act of God, failure of ISP or telecommunications provider in connection with the performance of this Agreement. 


All prices are quoted in pounds sterling. The prices include Value Added Tax, unless otherwise specified. Any delivery charges are additional.

We accept payment by Switch, Visa, MasterCard or American Express.

Promotional offers and prices are as stated, with no further discounts available.

Although we endeavour to ensure that all pricing information on this website is accurate, occasionally an error may occur and goods may be mis-priced. If we discover a pricing error we will, at our discretion, either: contact you and ask you whether you wish to cancel your order or continue with the order at the correct price; or notify you that we have cancelled your order. We will not be obliged to supply goods at the incorrect price.

We reserve the right to adjust prices, offers, goods and specifications of goods at our discretion at any time before (but not after) we accept your order. Where an end date is specified on any offer on the website, it is intended as a guide only. We reserve the right to change prices at any time.


We will provide a full refund or replacement for any wines, beers, ciders or spirits or hampers that are faulty or damaged. This does not affect your statutory rights. 

We may require damaged bottles/hampers to be returned to us, at our expense. We will arrange this as necessary at your convenience.

In accordance with the EU Distance Selling Directive you have the right to cancel the contract at any time up to 7 working days starting the day after delivery, as long as the goods are unopened and in their original condition. Please note that the customer must bear the cost of returning the goods to us.

You may request €˜sale-or-return€™ on alcohol when ordering online as long as delivery is within a 15-mile distance of Stalbridge, which is offered subject to agreement in advance of delivery.

Cancellations and complaints

You may cancel your order at any time before it is marked as despatched. Once the order is dispatched it cannot normally be cancelled. However, if you need to discuss cancelling an order after dispatch, or returning an order, please call the store on 01963 362204. Return postage costs will normally be payable by the customer unless there is a good reason for the return. 

In the event of complaint please contact the store on 01963 362204. Alternatively email info@dikes-direct.co.uk giving as much detail as you can. All complaints will be acknowledged within 48 hours and you can expect a full resolution of your complaint within a further 72 hours. You will be kept informed if there is any delay beyond this. Each complaint will be treated as confidential and will be attended to by a senior manager or director.

Crime prevention

For the purposes of the prevention or detection of offences, and/or the apprehension or prosecution of offenders, we may share any information that we collect with the Police, other public or private sector agencies or representative bodies in accordance with the relevant legislation. Information shared in this way will not be used for marketing purposes.

Reviews, Comments and Content

Users of this website may post reviews, ratings, comments and other content. This right is extended on condition that the content is not illegal, obscene, abusive, threatening, defamatory, invasive of privacy, infringing of intellectual property rights, or otherwise injurious to third parties, or objectionable. Specifically, content should not include software viruses, political campaigning, commercial solicitation, chain letters or mass mailings.

You may not use a false email address, impersonate any person or entity, or otherwise mislead as to the origin of any content.
